FAQ

High-Speed Mixers & Industrial Agitators

High-speed mixers are powerful industrial agitators designed for fast and efficient mixing, homogenising, stirring and circulating of liquid media. The combination of high rotational speed and an appropriately selected mixing propeller generates intensive flow inside the tank, providing fast and uniform mixing results. SRT offers robust high-speed mixers and industrial agitators in a wide range of power and speed configurations. Depending on the model, our high-speed mixers are available with approximately 750, 1,000 or 1,500 rpm. Variable-speed versions with frequency inverters are also available. Our standard high-speed mixers are particularly suitable for water-like, low- to medium-viscosity liquids with viscosities of up to 600 mPa·s.

High-Speed Mixers for Industrial Mixing Processes

Industrial high-speed mixers are used whenever liquids need to be mixed, homogenised, circulated or kept in motion efficiently. The combination of electric motor, agitator shaft and mixing propeller generates the flow required for the respective mixing process. Typical applications include mixing liquids, homogenising different components, stirring and agitating liquids, circulating tank contents, incorporating additives, preventing sedimentation and deposits, and maintaining homogeneous products during processing. Our high-speed agitators are therefore suitable for a wide range of applications in industrial production, process engineering, water treatment, chemical processing and general manufacturing.

High-Speed Mixers – 750, 1,000 and 1,500 rpm

The required speed of an industrial mixer depends on the individual application. Important factors include tank volume and geometry, filling level, viscosity and density of the liquid, as well as the size of the mixing propeller.

High-speed mixers with approximately 750 rpm are suitable for mixing and circulation processes where lower rotational speeds and gentler product movement are required.

High-speed mixers with approximately 1,000 rpm are versatile industrial agitators suitable for a wide range of mixing applications and different tank sizes.

High-speed mixers with approximately 1,500 rpm are designed for intensive and turbulent mixing of low-viscosity and water-like liquids.

A higher rotational speed does not automatically produce a better mixing result. For efficient operation, the mixer must be correctly selected according to the liquid, tank geometry and required mixing effect.

Direct-Drive High-Speed Mixers

Our direct-drive high-speed mixers feature a compact and robust design. The agitator shaft is driven directly by the electric motor without the need for an additional gearbox. This makes direct-drive agitators an economical and reliable solution for many industrial mixing applications involving low- to medium-viscosity liquids. Depending on the model, the mixer can be supplied with a permanently mounted shaft or a CNC-manufactured shaft coupling. The mixing element is bolted to the shaft and can be selected according to the application.

Variable-Speed High-Speed Mixers

For applications involving different products or changing process conditions, SRT also offers variable-speed high-speed mixers with frequency inverters. The frequency inverter allows the rotational speed of the agitator to be adjusted to the individual mixing process. This provides greater flexibility when processing different liquids, filling levels or mixing requirements. Variable speed control is particularly useful when a product initially requires intensive mixing and subsequently needs only gentle agitation to remain homogeneous.

Stainless Steel High-Speed Mixers

Depending on the model, product-contacting components are manufactured from high-quality stainless steel. Many of our high-speed mixers use stainless steel 1.4404 / AISI 316L. For applications requiring increased chemical resistance, versions or coatings made from PP or PVDF are also available. This allows the materials of the industrial mixer to be selected according to the properties of the medium and the requirements of the process.

Container Agitators for IBC Containers – Powerful Mixing Technology

Professional container agitators for IBC containers enable reliable mixing, homogenizing, and re-suspension of a wide variety of liquids directly in the existing IBC container. SRT Mischer offers a wide selection of IBC agitators, IBC mixers, and container agitators for different container sizes, viscosities, and industrial applications. Various designs are available, ranging from powerful IBC high-speed mixers for low-viscosity media to robust worm gear container agitators for high-viscosity liquids.

Container Agitators for 300, 600, and 1000 Liter IBCs

The Right Container Agitator for Your Application

Which container agitator for an IBC container is suitable depends on factors such as the container size, viscosity and density of the medium, the required mixing intensity, and the available electrical or compressed-air supply. For low-viscosity products, high-speed IBC mixers with propellers are an efficient solution. For higher viscosities, slow-speed worm gear container agitators with folding or cup-type impellers are a suitable choice. For changing requirements, a variable-speed IBC agitator offers a particularly flexible way to adjust the speed to the respective medium and mixing process.

Industrial Agitators and Mixers for Liquids and Viscous Media

In industrial production, liquids often need to be mixed, homogenized, agitated or kept in constant motion. The requirements range from low-viscosity, water-like liquids to significantly more viscous products. Selecting the right agitator depends on various factors, including viscosity, density, temperature, mixing volume, tank geometry and the required mixing effect.

Which Liquids Are Mixed in Industry?

Industrial agitators and mixers are used in many different industries. Typical media include:

Water and aqueous solutions
Alkaline and chemical solutions
Oils and lubricants
Cleaning agents and detergents
Liquid soaps
Paints and coatings
Resins and binders
Adhesives
Food and beverages

They can be mounted directly on suitable IBC containers and are designed for mixing, re-suspending or homogenizing liquids. This type of mobile mixing system is particularly useful when different liquids are processed in interchangeable IBC containers.

Agitators for Higher Viscosity Liquids

As viscosity increases, the requirements placed on an agitator also change. A simple high-speed impeller is not suitable for every high-viscosity medium. More viscous products may require slower agitators combined with appropriately designed impellers. The viscosity itself is only one factor; the required mixing result and vessel geometry must also be considered. The following parameters should be known when selecting an industrial agitator:

Viscosity in mPa·s
Density in kg/m³
Product temperature
Tank volume
Tank diameter
Liquid level
Required mixing time
Required rotational speed
Type of liquid
Required mixing process

Mixing Impellers and Agitator Blades

The impeller has a significant influence on the flow pattern and therefore on the overall mixing result.Depending on the application, different propellers, cup-type impellers and other mixing elements can be used. SRT supplies mixing impellers and agitator blades for a wide range of industrial applications. In addition to standard designs, customized mixing solutions may also be required. Important parameters include the material, impeller diameter, rotational speed and desired flow direction.

Stainless Steel Industrial Agitators

In chemical, food-processing and hygienically demanding applications, the material of the agitator is an important consideration in addition to mixing performance. Stainless steel is frequently used where corrosion resistance and suitable surface quality are required. The appropriate material should always be selected according to the medium, operating temperature and chemical conditions.

How to Select the Right Industrial Agitator

An industrial agitator should not be selected solely according to the maximum viscosity of a liquid. Even two liquids with the same viscosity may require different impellers due to differences in density, solids content or mixing requirements. Accurate process information is therefore important when designing or selecting an industrial mixing system.
